Minister proclaims Investor Education Week

Ernie McLean, Minister of Government Services and Lands, has declared the week of March 30 to April 3 as Investor Education Week.The proclamation of this week is part of a campaign sponsored by the Council of Securities Regulators of the Americas, whose members include 26 nations in North, Central, and South America, and the Caribbean, and the North American Securities Administrators Association (NASAA).

Mr. McLean said: "I am very pleased to proclaim March 30 to April 3 as Investor Education Week. This campaign will promote the importance of saving, investing, and avoiding securities fraud."

Anthony Patey is Director of the Securities Division with the Department of Government Services and Lands and a member of the Canadian Securities Administrators. Mr. Patey advises that as part of the week's activities, the Securities Division will place a series of articles on investment on government's Web site: www.gov.nl.ca under Publications.
