The following is being distributed at the request of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency:

Allergy Alert - Presence of undeclared soybean flour in Spice Bouquet Brand simulated bacon bits

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is warning consumers with an allergy to soybean not to eat Spice Bouquet Brand simulated bacon bits sold in 80-gram plastic containers with the UPC code 624433 300010. The simulated bacon bits have been found to contain soybean flour which has not been declared on the label.

The product has been distributed in Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland.

Consumption of these simulated bacon bits is of concern to those who are allergic to soybean. There have been no reported illnesses associated with these products.

The importer, Bensus International, Montreal is recalling the affected product from the marketplace. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
