The following is being distributed at the request of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency:

Allergy Alert - Undeclared Sesame Seeds in Banana Bars

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is warning consumers with sesame seed allergies not to eat Vel brand Banana Bars, UPC Code 055172555604, manufactured by K.L. Foods Inc., of Markham, Ontario. The bars contain sesame seeds that have not been declared on the label.

Consumption of this product is only of concern to those who are allergic to sesame seeds. There has been one illness associated with this product.

Vel brand Banana Bars are sold in a 70g size and are distributed by four wholesale distributors to food retail outlet, including health food stores, across the country.

The manufacturer is recalling the affected product from the marketplace. Consumers may return the product to the point of purchase. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
