The following is being distributed at the request of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency:

Nestle Canada Inc. is voluntarily recalling one day's production of Stouffer's Shanghai Chicken Complete Dinner Stir Kits. Products with a date code of 8016 and best before date of JA 99 were mis-packaged and may contain Szechuan Beef Kit components, including peanuts in both the sauce and a separate nut package. These components are not listed on the ingredient statement. This is only a concern for those individuals who have an allergy to peanuts.

In addition to notifying consumers through a national news release, Nestle Canada has advised the Allergy/Asthma Information Association. "Our members appreciate the rapid, responsible action Nestle has taken," says Sharon Van Gyzen, National Board Chair, Allergy/Asthma Information Association.

Those consumers who are sensitive to peanuts should not consume this product. Any consumer with questions can call Nestle's Consumer Services Centre toll-free at 1-800-387-4636.

For consumers who are not peanut-sensitive, the product is wholesome and safe for consumption.
