The following is being distributed at the request of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency: Recall of Meat Products Imported from Britain - Update Following a blitz of retail outlets across the country, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency is asking consumers to check food stocks for products containing meat that have been imported from Britain and purchased in Canada. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency initiated a food recall and issued a public warning March 5 after illegally imported products were discovered in Calgary. A cross-Canada blitz found small amounts of product in other retail outlets in British Columbia, Ontario and Nova Scotia. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is advising consumers who may have bought any product of British origin containing meat to destroy it or return it to the point of purchase. Please note that products with similar brand names or description, originating in Canada or from other countries, are not affected. The CFIA is tracing the source of these goods and will continue inspecting other stores to determine if these, or similar products, are on sale elsewhere.
