Official Opening of Aquaculture Canada '98:

  • Gilbert Normand, Secretary of State, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada and Department of Fisheries and Oceans

  • John Efford, Minister, Fisheries and Aquaculture

  • Dr. Jay Parsons, President, Aquaculture Association of Canada

  • Marli MacNeil, President, Canadian Aquaculture Industry Alliance

  • Marc Kielley, Executive Director, Newfoundland Aquaculture Industry Association.

The opening will be followed immediately by a plenary session on the marketing of cultured seafood products, to be chaired by Jerry Ward, assistant deputy minister (Aquaculture) for the Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture. He will be joined by representatives from various retail, wholesale, hospitality and aquaculture industry sectors.

Aquaculture Canada, is the annual, national conference of the Aquaculture Association of Canada (AAC). This year, it is being held in conjunction with the Newfoundland Aquaculture Industry Association (NAIA).

The Conference will be held at the Delta Hotel and Conference Centre in St. John's from May 31 to June 3, 1998.
