Premier Tobin to meet with Federal Minister Premier Brian Tobin is currently en route to Calgary to address the sixth annual meeting of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP). He will address approximately 1,200 delegates at the convention dinner this evening, taking the opportunity to highlight the accomplishments of Canada's newest petroleum producing province. As well, the premier will have the opportunity to meet with the Ralph Goodale, Minister of Natural Resources, who chairs the Economic Union Committee of Cabinet, and is also a member of the federal Ad Hoc Cabinet Committee on post-TAGS. "I am glad to have this further opportunity to stress to the federal minister the necessity for a post-TAGS program to meet the needs of the people of Newfoundland and Labrador," said the premier. "The federal government must act soon to implement an effective strategy and eliminate the uncertainty facing those people who will soon find themselves without an adequate means of support."
