The proponent proposes an amendment to the Five Year Operating Plan for District 15 in the Pynn's Brook/Island Pond area for additional timber harvesting covering an area of 4,124 Ha, including, 29 kilometres of new capital roads and 12 kilomerers of operational roads. This undertaking was registered on October 30, 1998 public comments are due on November 29, 1998 and the minister's decision is due on December 14, 1998.
The proponent proposes to develop a commercial Christmas tree farm on a three acre site in the Portugal Cove/St. Philips area on the north side of Goat Cove Brook and Old Broad Cove Road. Plans are to cut, clear and seed the forest over the next three years and have a commercial cut in approximately 10 years. The undertaking was registered on November 2, 1998, public comments are due on December 2, 1998 and the minister's decision is due on December 17, 1998.
The proponent proposes to develop a commercial Christmas tree farm on a 70 acre site approximately 11.5 kilometres from Happy Valley-Goose Bay, along the south side of the Trans Labrador Highway near the Churchill River. The proponent proposes to construct an automobile shredding facility and metal salvage yard to process car bodies, white goods, and scrap metal on the north side of the Robin Hood Bay sanitary landfill in St. John's. The facility will be located on a 10 acre site and will contain a 76m long by 15m wide car shredding plant with a two story operators tower, rotating crushing mill, cyclone dust collector system and a series of conveyors and stackers for the recycled metal and waste.
