Scrapyard at Makinsons gets environmental approval

Following an extensive review under the Environmental Assessment Act, Mr. David Mugford's proposal to establish an automobile scrapyard on property behind his home in Makinsons has been released from further environmental review by Environment and Labour Minister Oliver Langdon.

Prior to making his decision, Minister Langdon met with members of the Local Service District Committee and some area residents. "The concerns and issues raised at those meetings were investigated," stated Minister Langdon. "However, as long as Mr. Mugford obtains and complies with all the necessary federal and provincial permits and licenses, then the project may proceed."

Mr. Mugford has been advised to contact the Department of Government Services and Lands, Government Services Centre for information about the necessary permits and licenses.
