Salvage Yard (Resubmission) The proponent proposes to construct and operate a salvage yard off Route 70 behind the proponent's home in the community of Makinsons. Vehicles will be dismantled off site at a dismantling garage on Turks Road 1.5 kilometres from the salvage yard. The proposal involves the scrapping of automobiles from the Trinity/Conception Bay area and sale of re-usable auto parts. The undertaking was registered on July 10, 1998; public comments must be received by August 14, 1998; and the minister's decision is due on August 24, 1998. Copper Creek
Mountain Snowmaking The proponent proposes to construct snowmaking equipment for the Copper Creek Mountain Ski Resort on the Baie Verte Peninsula. Construction will include a 4.5 metre square pump house and 518 metres of pipe to transport water up the hill for distribution to the ski runs. Water will be withdrawn from South West Brook between November and January. The start date for this project is tentatively scheduled for September 1998. The undertaking was registered on July 9, 1998; public comments must be received by August 14, 1998; and the minister's decision is due on August 23, 1998. DECISION DATE EXTENDED: Port au Port
Barite Mine The original due date of the minister's decision on release of the undertaking has been extended to allow completion of the scientific and technical review of the document. UNDERTAKINGS RELEASED FROM ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT: The minister has decided that an Environmental Impact Statement is not required for the Long Harbour PCB Storage Facility. This project has been released from environmental assessment as per requirements of the Environmental Assessment Act.
