Dr. Phil Warren conducting independent consultations on private college legislation

Dr. Phil Warren, former Minister of Education, has been hired by the Department of Education to conduct independent consultations on the Private Training Schools Act and Regulations.

In September Dr. Warren will be traveling across the province to solicit public input on the regulation of private training. Dr. Warren will also be conducting individual consultations, when it is appropriate, with groups that have a vested interest in the legislation. He will then be recommending changes to the legislation based on the information he gathers from the public and key stakeholders.

"The growth of the private training industry has represented a challenge for the department with respect to the administration of the act and regulations," said Education Minister Roger Grimes. "We want to review the legislation so that we can improve on it in order to meet the needs of the private training industry and the consumer."

Currently, Dr. Warren is consulting with other jurisdictions, the National Association of Career Colleges, the Accreditation Commission, graduates and students on the regulation of private training institutes.
