Government announces additional capital funding for the College of the North Atlantic

Education Minister Roger Grimes announced an additional $500,000 in capital funding this year for the College of the North Atlantic to use toward upgrading their Information Technology infrastructure for the upcoming academic year.

College President Dr. Ron Sparkes said the additional funding will provide the latest technological tools required for enhancing the skills of their IT graduates in areas such as computer operation and training, data/design management, multimedia design and production, systems design and analysis, hardware system engineering, graphics and animation.

"We are living in an information society that demands us to keep on top of new technologies in order to provide the most up-to-date and comprehensive training for our students," said Dr. Sparkes. "We are very pleased this additional resource has been provided by the Newfoundland and Labrador Education Investment Corporation and will be used to enhance our training capability in Information Technology."

Board of Governors Chair, Vince Withers, said that increasing the capacity in Information Technology programming is a priority for the College of the North Atlantic. "The significant contribution of additional capital funding will enable the college to meet its target in this vital area in the new academic year."
