Meeting added to Outdoor Resources Consultation Process

Development and Rural Renewal Minister Beaton Tulk says he is impressed with constructive comments at the initial meetings of the Committee on the Use of Outdoor Resources, and the public interest in the process.

The cabinet committee, chaired by Minister Tulk, is carrying out a province-wide consultation process on the use of outdoor resources in Newfoundland and Labrador, and to date has held meetings in Harbour Breton, Springdale, Grand Falls-Windsor and Gander.

"When we announced the consultation exercise, and the communities in which public meetings would be held, we indicated that other venues could be added, depending on time and interest," the minister said. "I'm pleased to announce that an additional meeting in our consultation process will take place on October 7 at 7 p.m. in the Royal Canadian Legion in Ferryland to hear from people on the Avalon Peninsula's southern shore."

The outdoor resources consultation process resumes on September 30 with a meeting in Stephenville at the Stephenville High School, on October 1 at the Pasadena Academy Gymnasium, and two meetings on October 2 at the Port Saunders Recreation Centre and in St. Anthony at the Vinland Motel.

All meetings begin at 7 p.m.

Anyone seeking further information on how to participate in the meetings should call toll-free, 1-877-729-0084.
