Tree planting project for Port Hope Simpson

The Minister of Forest Resources and Agrifoods, Kevin Aylward, announced today that 32 hectares of land will be planted, near the community of Port Hope Simpson on the Labrador coast. "I am pleased to make this announcement for the Port Hope Simpson area," the minister said. "This contract represents government's commitment to sustainable forest management."

The contract valued at $9,840 has been awarded to Carter's Electrical Ltd. of Botwood. Mr. Aylward added: "Stewardship and maintenance of our forests is a long term investment in the future of the forest industry and for the people of this area."

The project is scheduled to commence in mid August, and will be completed in early September, employing four people for a three week period.
