A $1,796,983 contract has been awarded to Provincial Paving Ltd. of St. John's to pave Island Harbour Road and Deep Bay Road on Fogo Island for a total distance of 13.9 kilometres.

The announcement was made by Gerry Reid, MHA - Twillingate and Fogo, on behalf of Lloyd Matthews, Minister of Works, Services and Transportation.

This is a joint project between Transport Canada and the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador under the Strategic Highway Improvement Program.

Mr. Reid said that this project should be completed by September 30, 1997.
