A $1,871,722 contract has been awarded to Western Construction Company of Stephenville Crossing for the construction of a prestressed single span bridge at North Branch River, R1 and associated work.

The announcement was made by Kevin Alyward, MHA - St. Georges- Stephenville East, on behalf of Lloyd Matthews, Minister of Works, Services, and Transportation.

This is a joint project between Transport Canada and the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador under the Trans Canada Highway Agreement.

Mr. Alyward said that this project should be completed by October 13, 1997.
