A $591,782 contact has been awarded to Pyramid Construction Limited of St. John's to resurface five kilometres of Route 31 (Bauline Line); to resurface one kilometre of Route 40 (Portugal Cove Road) and to patch a combined total of 3.3 kilometres of road in Pouch Cove, Flatrock, the Harbour Arterial, and Burnt Cove. The announcement was made by Lloyd Matthews, Minister of Works Services and Transportation.

This is a joint project between Transport Canada and the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador under the Atlantic Freight Assistance Program. Mr. Matthews said that this project will be completed September 30, 1997.
