A $1,068,000 site development contract has been awarded for the Melville Regional Health Care Centre. The announcement was made today by Ernest McLean, Minister Responsible for Labrador and MHA - Lake Melville, and Lloyd Matthews, Minister of Works, Services and Transportation.

The contract was awarded to Labrador Construction Limited of Happy Valley-Goose Bay.

"I am very pleased that Labrador Construction has received this contract. The construction of this new $30 million health facility, along with other construction projects in Labrador this year, including the Trans Labrador Highway and schools on the north coast, will provide plenty of opportunities for local companies," said Mr. McLean.

Site development work will start immediately and is expected to be completed by the end of September. The tender call for the foundation closes on July 9.
