Badminton Newfoundland and Labrador hosts the first Annual Pepsi Newfoundland Atlantic
Summer Open Badminton Tournament
August 29-31, 1997

From August 29-31, Badminton Newfoundland and Labrador will host the First Annual Pepsi Newfoundland Atlantic Summer Open Badminton Tournament at the West Coast Training Centre in Stephenville. This tournament is the first of five ranking tournaments in the 1997 Senior Atlantic Badminton Circuit. Badminton's best players from four Atlantic Provinces are expected to attend, including members of the 1999 Newfoundland and Labrador Canada Games Training Squad.

Five events, with consolation rounds, will be held - Ladies' Singles, Men's Singles, Ladies' Doubles, Men's Doubles, and Mixed Doubles. Single play will begin Friday at 5:30 p.m., with doubles beginning on Saturday at 9 a.m. Semi-finals in singles and doubles, and all finals, will be played on Sunday morning, followed by presentation of awards.
