Juvenile Hoop Team Hits Road

This weekend July 18-20, the Provincial Juvenile Boys Basketball Team will compete in the prominent Loyalist City Summerfest in Saint John, New Brunswick in preparation for the Eastern Canadian Championships slated for July 25-27. The team will compete against teams from the Atlantic provinces along with the Eastern Seaboard of the United States. The tournament will commence on Friday, July 18 and will conclude Sunday with the championship game. From there the team will travel to Augusta, Maine for a series of exhibition games at Cony High School on Monday through Wednesday.

Upon completion of their exhibition games south of the border, the team will return to Moncton, New Brunswick to compete in the Eastern Canadian Championships from July 25-27. The championships will commence on Friday with games against Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. On Saturday the team faces New Brunswick and Ontario with the championship game slated for Sunday. The team will return to the iland on July 29. Members of the team include: Mike Ash, Anthony Crocker and Dave Ellis of Mount Pearl; Mike Pope from Fogo Island; Dustin Newhook of Corner Brook; Andy Moss, Darren Hoyles and Michael Harvey of Deer Lake; John Gibbons of St. Mary's Bay; and Randy Ryan and Robert Learmonth of St. John's. Coaches for the team include: Randy Ash, Sharon Ash and Wayne White.
