April 8, 1997 (Tourism, Culture and Recreation) The following is being distributed at the request of Sport Newfoundland and Labrador: Black Knights/Harvey's Travel Provincial Badminton Championships The Black Knights/Harvey's Travel Provincial Badminton Championships were held at Fred Kirby Intermediate in Foxtrap on Saturday, April 5. Mike Alexander, Tan Sin Lam, Anand Irrinki and Daniel Paradis, all of St. John's, made it to the semi-finals in the men's singles. In the semi-finals Alexander defeated Sin Lam 10,7 and Paradis defeated Irrinki (15-5), (7-15), (15-9). Alexander won the final match with Paradis 8,8. Chad Peddle defeated Jim Smith 11,1 in the men's single's consolation round. In men's doubles finals Anand Irrinki and Beenu Wadhwa defeated Tan Sin Lam and Suryawan Murtiadi 5,9.
