The following is being distributed at the request of Sport Newfoundland and Labrador:

Humber Valley Volleyball Club captured the Juvenile A-Girls Provincial Volleyball Championship held in Clarenville this past weekend. Humber Valley had a perfect 4-0 record in their division to earn a spot in the semi-final. They defeated Gander (3-1) 11-15, 15-5, and 15-6 in the first semi-final. In the other semi-final Discovery Collegiate (3-1) of Bonavista defeated Strikers (3-1) of Marystown by scores of 15-5, 15-12. In the bronze medal match Strikers defeated Gander 15-9, 15-1. In the final Humber Valley defeated Discovery 15-1, 11-15, and 15-3 to claim the title and earn the right to represent Newfoundland at the National Juvenile Championships being held in New Brunswick in May.

All-stars for the tournament were Sheena Jackman (Gander), Catherine Skanes (Presentation), Susan Penney (Discovery Collegiate), Marsha Murray (Strikers), Peggy Tuttle (Ascension), and Erin Pike (Humber Valley Club). The most spirited player of the tournament was Melissa Oates of Humber Valley Volleyball Club.
