Provincial Hoops Championships

The Newfoundland and Labrador Basketball Association will host two Molson Provincial Basketball Championships this weekend, March 7 - 9. Gander will play host to the Men's Division II Championship which has nine teams entered in the two division round robin event. Teams entered in Division A include Carbonear, Baker Street, Cabot College, Ben's and Greensleeves, while Division B will consist of Guards, Pockets, Stephenville and the host team Gander All-stars. Play gets under way in Gander at 3 p.m. Friday and will conclude with the championship game on Sunday at 2 p.m.

The Division II Molson Ladies Provincials will be played in St. John's at the Torbay Training Centre and the School for the Deaf. Ten teams are entered in the two divisions. Each will play a round robin with the top two teams advancing to the semi-finals on Sunday morning. Teams entered in Division A are Labrador City, Trapper John's, Governor's Pub, Sundance and Waterford. Teams entered in Division B include Travel Management, Royal LePage, Stephenville All-Stars, Greensleeves, and Cabot College. The tournament will start on Thursday evening and will conclude Sunday at the Torbay Gym with the championship game at 2 p.m.
