The following is being distributed at the request of Sport Newfoundland and Labrador:

Pepsi Junior High Girl's Provincial Championship

On February 14 and 15 the City of Corner Brook/Benoit's Cove will be hosting the provincial Junior High Girl's Volleyball Championships. Games will be played at Grenfell College, St. Peter's Academy, and Presentation. The tournament will see 19 teams from around the province battle it out for the championship. The teams will be divided up into four divisions with a round-robin format to be played within each division. The top two teams of each division will earn a spot in the quarter-finals. Divisional play will get under way on Friday, February 14 at 3:30 and 4 p.m., and will continue on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. and 9 a.m. The playoffs will start with quarter-final and semi-final rounds, and finish of with the bronze and gold medal matches. The playoffs will start on Saturday at approximately 2 p.m. with the bronze medal match at 5 p.m. and the gold at 6 p.m. Both the bronze and gold medal matches will be played at St. Peter's Academy in Benoit's Cove.

Teams that will be competing in this tournament are St. Peter's Academy, Pasadena Falcons, Grandy's River Collegiate, G. Shaw Collegiate of Summerford, St. Francis of Deer Lake, G.A. Mercer of Corner Brook, Beaconsfield Saxons of St. John's, C.B.N. Diggers, Gill Memorial of Musgrave Harbour, Presentation Panthers of Corner Brook, G.C. Rowe Crusaders and 8's of Corner Brook, Jane Collins Academy of Hare Bay, Junior Sentinels of Grand Falls-Windsor, C.B.S. Sabres, Glovertown, St. James Flames of Port aux Basques, and Discovery Collegiate of Bonavista. These teams will be competing throughout the weekend and it will definitely result in an exciting weekend of volleyball for everyone involved.
