Canada Games Women's Soccer Team Ties, Loses in Nova Scotia

Newfoundland's Canada Games Women's soccer team tied one game and lost two in a three-game exhibition series in Halifax last weekend against two of the top senior women's teams in Eastern Canada. The team played Halifax Dunbrack to a 0-0 draw and lost two games to Forest Hills United by 1-0 and 3-0 scores. The undefeated Forest Hills is currently in first place in the seven team Nova Scotia Senior Soccer League while Dunbrack sits in second.

In assessing his team's performance, head coach Ed Arnott said: "These matches were our first games of the year and both of the Nova Scotia teams are very good. The Forest Hills team especially is rich in talent and experience with several former Canada Games, AUAA, and even national team players. We gave a good account of ourselves and are pretty much on schedule in our preparations for the Canada Games."

The Newfoundland team will play three games in Ontario this weekend. On Sunday, the girls play the Ontario Canada Games team and will face off against the Ontario provincial under-17 and under-18 teams on Monday and Tuesday.
