Boxing Newfoundland Elects Executive

Boxing Newfoundland held its Annual General Meeting and election of officers this past weekend in St. John's.

Doug Fowler was re-elected to his sixth term as President, Randell Rideout returns as the Association's Vice President, Kevin Greeley was re-elected Secretary, and Ian MacNeil was elected to his first term as the Association's Treasurer. Mike Summers was re-appointed Chief Official and Registrar.

All six clubs in the province were represented and presented full reports on the past years activities.

Two of the association's major awards were announced during the meeting. The Travel Management Award, awarded annually to Boxing Newfoundland's top athlete, was awarded to Donnie Hunt of the Conception Bay South Boxing Club. Hunt is the current Canadian Junior Champion at 112 lbs and has had an outstanding year in his sport. Runners up for the Travel Management Award were Mark Kean of the Hilltop Boxing Club and Geoff MacNeil of the Torbay Rec Centre Boxing Club.

The Margie Dodd Memorial Award was presented to Stephen King of the Hilltop Boxing Club for his dedication to the sport of boxing throughout the year. Runners up for this award were Todd Rideout of CBS and Don Chaulk of the Twin Cities Boxing Club.
