April 16, 1997 (Tourism, Culture and Recreation) The following is being distributed at the request of Sport Newfoundland and Labrador: Lumsden wins Bantam Girls Volleyball The home team Lumsden Loopers came out on top in the Provincial Girls Volleyball Championships this past weekend. In the final match Lumsden defeated Trinity Bay Volleyball Club from Catalina by scores of 15-12 and 15-9. Lumsden advanced to the final by defeating Clarenville 15-13 and 15- 8. Trinity Bay Volleyball Club advanced to the final by defeating St. Boniface of Bell Island by scores of 15-10, 6-15 and 15-11. In the bronze medal match St. Boniface defeated Clarenville by scores of 17-15 and 15-11. The most spirited player in the tournament was April Parsons of Lumsden.
