The following is being distributed at the request of Newfoundland Labrador High School Athletic Federation:

Provincial Track and Field

The last event of the Newfoundland Labrador High School Athletic Federation calendar is scheduled for Saturday, May 31. The Provincial High School Track and Field Championships are being hosted by Bishop's College in St. John's to be held at the Pearlgate Track and Field Complex.

Five regions in the province will be represented at this competition. Bishop's College of St. John's will compete against Clarenville Integrated High (Avalon West), Dorset Collegiate from Pilleys Island (Central West), E.J. Pratt and Carbonear Integrated (Trinity-Conception), Herdman Collegiate from Corner Brook (Western) and Pearce Regional High, St. Joseph's and Marystown Central High (Burin Peninsula).

Champions will be declared in male and female categories in the following events: 100M, 200M, 400M, 800M, 1500M, 1500M race walk, 3000M(Female), 5000M(Male), Medley Relay (100, 200, 400), shot put, discus, javelin, high jump and long jump. The competition gets underway at 9 a.m. starting with the 100M heats.

In addition to the individual champion, male and female champions will be declared in the team event. Keyin Technical College, the School Milk Foundation and the Dairy Farmers of Newfoundland are the official sponsors of the event.
