Labrador launch of Tourism Awareness Month

On Monday, May 26, the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation, Sandra Kelly, will officially launch the province-wide Tourism Awareness Month, Hospitality Newfoundland and Labrador (HNL)'s annual tourism awareness campaign. HNL's Tourism Awareness Month campaign promotes tourism and educates individuals and businesses about the industry's economic significance to the province.

Hospitality Newfoundland and Labrador board member John Dicks will present annual Ambassadors of Hospitality Awards to Kathy Crotty, President of Destination Labrador, and Nick McGrath, President of the Labrador West Tourism Development Corporation, in recognition of their outstanding work in promoting and developing Labrador's tourism industry. Mr. McGrath will also receive his Professional Certification, national occupational recognition, for food and beverage service. In addition, Labrador's first annual Gwen Ryan Ambassador Award will be presented.

Theme: Do it! - Let's Welcome the World with our Homemade Charm

What: A wine and cheese reception with musical entertainment featuring Labrador Black Spruce, the Labrador West Community Choir, and Collage.

When: May 26 at 7 - 9 p.m.

Where: Labrador West Arts and Culture Centre, Labrador City.

Speakers: Minister Sandra C. Kelly, Mayor of Labrador City Darrell Brenton, Mayor of Wabush Bill Kelly, MHA Perry Canning, MP Lawrence O'Brien (TBC), Kathy Crotty of Destination Labrador, and John Dicks of Hospitality Newfoundland and Labrador. Nick McGrath, President of Labrador West Tourism Development Corporation will be the Master of Ceremonies for the event.
