Pector Fueling Automation Inc. granted EDGE status

Judy Foote, Minister of Industry, Trade and Technology, announced today that Pector Fueling Automation Inc. is eligible for incentives under the Economic Diversification and Growth Enterprises (EDGE) legislation.

Pector Fueling Automation Inc. intends to establish a facility in St. John's that will produce innovative software and hardware which will enable the propane and gasoline industries to more efficiently control, monitor and dispense its inventory. The company will also produce, control and monitor systems for commercial truck fueling, storage facilities and Vehicle Recognition Systems that improves the safe and cost-effective automation of refueling vehicles.

All activities relating to technology software and hardware, including customization, upgrading, maintenance, trouble shooting/support, development and assembly will be performed in the province.

"Pector Fueling will employ approximately 18 people in its first year of operation, and expects to increase that number to 25 during its second year," said Denise Clarke, manager of Pector Fueling.

"Pector Fueling is an example of the innovative types of companies that the EDGE program is attracting. Pector Fueling recognized an opportunity in the marketplace, both on a local and international level, to provide a new product that will result in a safer and more efficient utilization of commercial facilities in the oil and gas industry," stated Ms. Foote.

Companies with EDGE status are eligible for tax holidays, Crown land for a nominal fee and access to a facilitator who will help obtain the required permits and licences associated with start up or expansion. To date, there are 64 companies in various stages of operation that have been granted EDGE status, creating close to 1,000 new, full-time jobs.
