NOTE TO EDITORS:

Federal/Provincial/Territorial Ministers responsible for Social Services will meet in St. John's on Tuesday, October 7 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Delta St. John's Hotel.

Discussions will focus on:

• National Child Benefit system
• National Chidren's Agenda, and
• Benefits and Services for persons with disabilities

Pierre S. Pettigrew, Minister of Human Resources Development Canada, and Julie Bettney, Minister of Human Resources and Employment for Newfoundland and Labrador, will co-chair the meeting. The meeting is not open to the media.

The ministers will be available for questions after the meeting.
