Senior officials appointed in Department of Health

Premier Brian Tobin is pleased to announce today the appointment of senior officials in the Department of Health.

Brenda Fitzgerald is the new Assistant Deputy Minister, Community Health. Most recently, Ms. Fitzgerald served as Executive Director of Community Health, St. John's Region.

Gerry White assumes the new position of Assistant Deputy Minister, Policy and Planning. Mr. White's most recent post was as Assistant Deputy Minister, Community Health and Drug Programs.

"These organizational changes will help to increase capacity in the areas of policy and long-term planning within the Department of Health," said Premier Tobin. "By bringing a highly regarded medical administrator into the department to be responsible for community services, we can better address the needs of the people."

BRENDA FITZGERALD
Appointed as Assistant Deputy Minister, Community Health
Department of Health

Brenda Fitzgerald has worked in the field of health care administration for 14 years. During her career, Ms. Fitzgerald has served in a number of positions, including: Director of Human Resources, St. Clare's Mercy Hospital; Assistant Executive Director, The General Hospital Corporation; and most recently as Executive Director, Community Health, St. John's Region. Ms. Fitzgerald holds a Masters of Health Science (Health Administration) from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Commerce from Memorial University of Newfoundland.

GERRY WHITE
Appointed as Assistant Deputy Minister, Policy and Planning
Department of Health

Gerry White has been involved with the provincial government for 28 years. During his career, he has served in various positions with the Department of Health, including: management analyst; administrative assistant to the Deputy Minister of Health; Director of Policy; Assistant Deputy Minister, Community Health and Drug Programs. Mr. White holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Memorial University of Newfoundland.
