The following is being distributed at the request of the St. John's Nursing Home Board:

Board appoints chief executive officer

Dr. Leonard Williams, chairperson for the St. John's Nursing Home Board, is pleased to announce the appointment of Allan Bradley, as chief executive officer for the newly formed St. John's Nursing Home Board.

Mr. Bradley comes to the position with a comprehensive working knowledge of long term care service delivery. His education, experience and professional achievements, as well as his commitment to the long term care sector, has been well established.

Currently, Mr. Bradley is chief executive officer of a long term care facility in Edmonton, Alberta and former chief executive officer of the Bay St. George Senior Citizens Home in Stephenville Crossing.

Dr. Williams added that Mr. Bradley's appointment will assist the board with its challenging new role of continuing to deliver high quality care, while at the same time, achieving cost containment.

The St. John's Nursing Home Board was appointed by the Minister of Health in September 1996 with a mandate for governing all aspects of nursing home care in the City of St. John's. The six nursing homes include: Hoyles Escasoni Complex, The Agnes Pratt Home, Masonic Park, St. Patrick's Mercy Home, Glenbrook Lodge and St. Luke's Homes.

Mr. Bradley will commence work with the board effective April 1, 1997. At that time, the board will officially assume responsibility for all aspects of nursing home care in St. John's.

Contact: Dr. Len Williams, (709) 579-8537.
