The Trade Practices Division of the Department of Government Services and Lands advises that PlaySafe Children's Publications Limited has been notified that its licence under the Direct Sellers Act has been suspended for its failure to comply with the terms and conditions of its licence.

PlaySafe Children's Publications had been licenced as a direct seller for the purpose of soliciting sponsorship or sales in relation to a child safety journal. The licence was suspended because the company has not honoured its commitment to supply the journal to consumers and sponsors as promised.

The company has been directed not to make any further solicitations to consumers and to provide refunds requested by customers or consumers. Solicitations to businesses for sponsorship are not covered under the Direct Sellers Act.

Upon receipt of a completed copy of the child safety journal, the department will review the matter and determine if a reinstatement of the licence is possible.
