Grand Falls-Windsor Government Service Centre Ernest McLean, Minister of Government Services and Lands, Anna Thistle, MHA - Grand Falls-Buchans, and Graham Flight, MHA - Windsor- Springdale, officially opened the Grand Falls-Windsor Government Service Centre today. Mr. McLean said: "I am delighted to officially open yet another Government Service Centre in this province. Residents can now deal with one agency when applying for many permits, licences, and certificates. They can also visit the centre to seek general information about government programs and services. "As well, the centre is accepting applications for vital statistics such as birth and marriage certificates and before the end of 1997 we hope to introduce a comprehensive on-line computer system for Crown land approvals." Ms. Thistle said: "Local staff have been given the authority they need to run this centre. Government has brought together most of its permitting, licensing and regulatory functions and the first priority is to get the job done. Government is determined to provide a one-step shop which will provide prompt, efficient and friendly services to the residents of Grand Falls-Windsor and surrounding areas." Mr. Flight said: "Today, by opening this centre, we are moving in a new and innovative direction, we are eliminating duplication and red tape, and we are creating a positive business climate."
