Minister announces opening of Colville Lake and Milner Lake caribou extension zones

Kevin Aylward, minister responsible for wildlife, announced that effective immediately, Colville Lake and Milner Lake caribou extension zones will be opened for caribou hunting. "Officials of my department have informed me that there has been a massive influx of Georges River Caribou into western Labrador. We have conducted aerial reconnaissance and have reports of thousands of animals within the zone."

The staff of the Wildlife Division will continue to monitor the movement of the George River caribou herd. The minister added: "Hunters are advised that additional areas may be opened as the caribou migration continues. I would like to remind all hunters to apply safe and ethical hunting practices. I wish them enjoyment and success in their hunting pursuits."
