Tree planting contract awarded in Trinity North

Doug Oldford, MHA - Trinty North, and Kevin Aylward, Minister of Forest Resources and Agrifoods, announced today that approval has been given for a silviculture project in the area of Island Pond, Trinity North.

The minister stated: "I am pleased to inform the public that Budland Enterprises Ltd. of Baytona has been awarded this contract valued at $23,353. The project involves the planting of 302,500 seedlings on a 121 hectare site. The contractor will be planting both white and black spruce at a concentration of 2,500 seedlings per acre."

Doug Oldford stated: "I am pleased to join the Minister of Forest Resources and Agrifoods in making this announcement. This is a large site that will be brought back as a productive forest. This project will provide 36 weeks of employment for 12 people in the area."

Work on this project is anticipated to start in mid-September and be completed in early October.
