Extension planned for Mini Hydro Resource Road The Minister of Forest Resources and Agrifoods, Kevin Aylward, and Chris Decker, MHA - The Straits & White Bay North, announced today the plans for a .75 kilometre extension to the Mini Hydro Resource Road, located near the community of Roddickton on the northern peninsula. Mr. Aylward stated: "I am pleased to inform the public that this contract, valued at $17,785 has been awarded to Critch's Construction Ltd. of Springdale. This road is one of the primary resource roads in this area and will be of great benefit to the commercial operators for both sawlog and pulpwood production. In addition, it will allow my department to do follow up silviculture treatments in this area." Mr. Decker said: "The Mini Hydro Resource Road is an important resource road within our district. Not only does it provide access to a commercial and domestic wood supply, but also for recreational activities. This extension is welcomed." The project will employ five people for a 10 week period and will commence in early September and wrap up in mid-November.
