July 30, 1997 (Forest Resources and Agrifoods) Upgrading planned for Port Hope Simpson Resource Road The Minister of Forest Resources and Agrifoods, Kevin Aylward, announced today the award of a contract for four kilometres of upgrading to the Port Hope Simpson Resource Road, in Labrador. Mr. Aylward stated: "I am pleased to inform the public that this contract, valued at $124,535 has been awarded to Budgell's Equipment Rentals of Triton. This road is one of the primary resource roads in this area and will be of great benefit to the commercial operators. This section of the road was originally constructed in the 1980s, and requires major reconstruction in order to maintain commercial operations, and carry out future silviculture treatments in this area." This project is anticipated to start in early August and be completed by the end of October. It will employ five to seven people for this 11 week period. Contact: Ken Colbert Anna Buffinga
