July 21, 1997 (Forest Resources and Agrifoods) Upgrading planned for Indian Bay Resource Road Kevin Aylward, Minister of Forest Resources and Agrifoods, announced today a contract valued at $47,784.28, for the reconstruction of 5.8 kilometres of the Indian Bay Resource Road. The minister stated: "Well maintained resource roads in this province play a very important role in the effectiveness of harvesting operations. As well, there's the different types of silviculture work carried out in remote areas. Resource roads need to be kept up for this work. I am pleased to inform the public that this contract has been awarded to Star Construction of Long Pond Manuels." Beaton Tulk, MHA - Bonavista North, joined his colleague in making this announcement. "I am pleased take part in this announcement today, the upkeep of resource roads is vital to the forest industry. In addition this project will create 10 weeks of employment for four people in the area." Work on this project will commence in early August and be completed by mid October.
