July 18, 1997 (Forest Resources and Agrifoods) Extension planned for Fox Marsh Resource Road The Minister of Forest Resources and Agrifoods, Kevin Aylward, announced today the plans for a 3.5 kilometre extension and approximately one kilometre upgrading to the Foxmarsh Resource Road, located on the Avalon Peninsula. Mr. Aylward stated: "I am pleased to inform the public that this contract, valued at $119,785.25 has been awarded to Hobb's Construction of New Harbour, Trinity Bay. This road is one of the primary resource roads in this area and will be of great benefit to the commercial operators. In addition, it will allow my department to do follow up silviculture treatments in this area." Don Whalen, MHA - Harbour Main-Whitbourne, joined the minister in making the announcement. Mr. Whalen said: "The Foxmarsh Resource Road is an important resource road within our district. Not only does it provide access to a commercial and domestic wood supply, but also for recreational activities. This extension is welcomed." The project will employ approximately seven people for an eight week period. This contract is anticipated to start in mid July and will be completed by mid October.
