Road Extension for Bonavista North District

Beaton Tulk, Minister of Forest Resources and Agrifoods and MHA for the Bonavista North District, is pleased to announce the award of a $63,340 contract to extend the Weirs Pond resource road.

The aim of the project is to allow commercial harvesters access to mature and over mature timber stands near Gander Bay South. The successful bid went to W. Reid Construction Ltd., of Bishop's Falls. The company will be responsible for constructing two kilometers of resource road as an extension to the already existing roadway. Mr. Tulk commented: "With the extension of the existing resource road, commercial harvesters will have further access to Crown Land timber stands ready to be logged."

The project is slated to begin on July 7, running for a total of nine weeks. Six people are expected to be employed.
