June 19, 1997 (Forest Resources and Agrifoods) Spar Pond Resource Road Project for Trinity North District The Minister for Forest Resources and Agrifoods, Beaton Tulk, and Doug Oldford, MHA - Trinity North are pleased to announce the award of a contract for construction of 2.25 kilometres of resource road in the Spar Pond area. Bayview Motors Ltd. of Port Rexton was the successful bidder for the contract which is valued at $46,469. Mr. Oldford said: "Resource roads are vital to the viability of the logging and sawmilling industry in our province." The minister stated: "The road will provide access by commercial harvesters to overmature timber. It's important to keep in mind that once the harvesting is carried out it also enables follow up silviculture treatment to be carried out." Work on the road is scheduled to start on June 13 and will run for 6 weeks. A total of 6 people will be employed.
