Tree Seedling Planting Project for Trinity-Bay de Verde District

Beaton Tulk, Minister of Forestry Resources and Agrifoods, and Lloyd Snow, MHA - Trinity-Bay de Verde, are pleased to announce the award of a $7,262.50 contract to plant tree seedlings on the Trinity Shore.

The land targeted for seeding is a 35 hectare area along the Hanging Hill Resource Road. The successful bidder, Forest Developers of Mount Pearl will plant a total of 87,500 container seedlings of various species. Mr. Tulk stated: "Portions of this forest have been browsed and damaged to a severe extent, so the project is a necessary one in order to assist in natural regeneration."

Mr. Snow added: "It is projects such as this one that are proof of this government's committment to keeping our forests healthy and viable for the future."

The project is scheduled to begin on June 9 employing 10 people. It will run for two weeks.
