Minister announces opening of Nipishish caribou extension zone

Beaton Tulk, minister responsible for wildlife, announced that effective immediately, the Nipishish caribou extension zone will be opened to caribou hunting. The minister has received information that at least a thousand caribou are now north of Nipishish Lake, south of the Kaipokok river. It appears that substantial numbers of George River caribou have entered this zone, and the minister is pleased to provide residents with this hunting opportunity.

"The staff of the Wildlife Division of my department will continue to monitor the movement of the George River caribou herd," said the minister. "Hunters are advised that additional areas may be opened as the caribou migration continues."

"I would like to remind all hunters to apply safe and ethical hunting practices," said Ernest MacLean, MHA for Lake Melville. "I wish hunters every enjoyment and success in their hunting pursuits."
