October 30, 1997 NOTE TO EDITORS: Premier Brian Tobin and officials of the Provincial Command of the Royal Canadian Legion will participate in a Fly the Flag of Remembrance ceremony on October 31 at Confederation Building. The ceremony will honour the memory of those who died in the service of their country in all wars. Royal Canadian Legion Command Remembrance Chair, Bill Titford, said the ceremony will commence at 12 noon. It will feature the traditional March on the Colours and performances by the Singing Legionnaires. The ceremony will also serve as the kick-off for Remembrance Week throughout the province which will be observed from November 1 to November 11. Taylor French, President of the Provincial Command, said almost every home in Newfoundland and Labrador was touched by the tragic losses in these world conflicts. He said the Flag Raising ceremony, together with the Remembrance Week activities, will provide a unique opportunity for the public to remember the courage, devotion and sacrifices of those whose lives were lost in the world wars and the Korean conflict. Following is the itinerary covering the Flag of Remembrance ceremony.
