The following is being distributed at the request of Buckingham Palace:

Honours in the Royal Victorian Order

Her Majesty The Queen has been graciously pleased to make the following appointments in the Royal Victorian Order on the occasion of The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh's visit to Canada - June 23 to July 2, 1997.

  • NEWFOUNDLAND

    LVO (Lieutenant of the Royal Victorian Order)
    Robert Jenkins - Newfoundland and Labrador Visit Co-ordinator

    RVM (Silver) (Royal Victorian Medal)
    Sergeant Robert Humes - RCMP Division Co-ordinator, Newfoundland

The order was instituted by Queen Victoria on April 21, 1896 as a reward for personal service to the Sovereign and as a mark of Royal esteem. There is no limit to the number of members, but the order is highly prized as an honour bestowed as the Sovereign's personal gift.
