CPPMA National Training Conference

The Canadian Public Personnel Management Association (CPPMA) is pleased to announce that its National Training Conference will be held in St. John's, at the Newfoundland Hotel, on May 13 - 16, 1997.

This national conference will showcase a high calibre human resources professional development program and will provide human resource practitioners from St. John's and surrounding areas with an opportunity to meet and network with human resource professionals from across Canada.

"Celebrating Our People: Human Resources Leading The Way" is the theme of the conference. Celebrating Our People ties in with Newfoundland's year long celebration marking the 500th anniversary of John Cabot's voyage to Newfoundland.

Plenary Speakers on Day One will focus on Alternative Service Delivery leading with Sir Graham Day discussing his U.K. Experience; Michael Shaen of the Acumen Group - Responding to Trends in Public/Private Partnerships; and Professor David Zussman, Ph.D., of the University of Ottawa dealing with the issue of Alternative Service Delivery.

Plenaries for Day Two will focus on Team Based Organizations and will include Elizabeth Davis of the St. John's Health Care Corporation; and Sharon Wood, the first North American woman to climb Mount Everest. In addition, nine concurrent sessions will cover a variety of topics from legal issues, Concepts in Public Sector Compensation; HR Practices, Staffing, Communications, to the Hibernia Management Experience in managing team based organizations.

Day Two will also highlight as a luncheon speaker, Brian Tobin, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador.

The Post-Conference Workshop on May 16, featuring two well known St. John's lawyers, will deal with Recent Developments in Canadian Labour and Employment Law. There will also be many more exciting and thought provoking speakers showcased over the entire conference.
