Premier Tobin congratulates NDI on deal signing in Korea

Premier Brian Tobin today congratulated Nautical Data International, Inc. (NDI), of St. John's, on successfully concluding their negotiations with the Korean Research Institute of Ships and Ocean Engineering (KRISO). NDI, which specializes in the production and distribution of computerized versions of nautical charts, signed a contract with KRISO to produce a number of electronic charts of Korean waters. This contract will include the training of personnel from the Korean Hydrographic office in chart production and quality control procedures. It is noted that a number of officials from KRISO will receive specialized training at NDI's local office in the coming months. Brian Terry, president of NDI, will continue to pursue further contract opportunities in Asia.

Premier Tobin said: "NDI is an example of the many Newfoundland and Labrador companies that have developed leading edge technology that is of great interest and benefit to other countries around the world. It is this type of export ready company that we are trying to promote during the Team Canada mission. NDI has once again demonstrated that it can compete in the information technology sector on a "global scale."

Premier Tobin and the Newfoundland delegation will travel to the Philippines and Thailand as Team Canada trade mission continues this week.
