Occupational Health and Safety Division investigating fatal accident in Twillingate

An employee of the Department of Works, Services and Transportation was killed this morning in Twillingate when a dump truck preparing to unload asphalt backed into the employee. Occupational Health and Safety inspectors from the Department of Environment and Labour received the call at approximately 9:45 a.m. An officer was dispatched to the site immediately and is presently conducting an investigation into the incident. The local R.C.M.P. were also at the scene. The employee was working on a road construction project when the incident occurred.
